The Yard Sale Meets The 21st Century

I have fond memories

from my childhood going yard sale shopping with my grandmother on Saturday mornings. I learned how to find good deals at yard sales. Once, as we were leaving a sale, I overheard a lady offer a few dollars less for an item my grandmother had just looked at, but did not buy, because it was priced “too high.” What did the seller do? He sold it for less! I realized that if I like something out of my price range, just make an offer. It puts the decision back on the seller to either accept, deny, or make a counter offer. This lesson has helped me snag many a deal.

I don’t know about you, but I have tons of old stuff in my home. I keep imagining I will sell at a yard sale, some day. It’s not that I haven’t tried to plan one, but something always seems to come up. Once it rained and another time I got a cold. Once I walked into my garage, sighed, and walked right back out. I really do not like to make signs, stick them up all over the neighborhood, and drag out all my junk (I mean gently loved items) onto my from lawn. Then after a long morning, haul half of it back into the garage at the end and take down all of the signs that did not blow away. I got tired just thinking about doing all of those steps!

Good news! There are easier and more convenient ways to sell your old stuff. For example, OfferUp, is as easy as snap a picture, add a description, and name your price. Then sit back and wait for people to message you through the app. Before long you too can have a little more cash in your pocket and a little less clutter in your home.

Here are 10 apps that you can use to sell your stuff from the comfort of your smartphone.
